Social Justice
Our Mission Statement
The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of SLO County's Social Justice Committee works together to establish justice and peace through five types of social action: education, service, witness, advocacy and direct action. We are committed to be an engine of social change both within the Fellowship, and in the wider community.
We Are a Welcoming Congregation!
The congregation spent nearly two years exploring personal and societal attitudes about gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, and how we can be a congregation that is open and affirming of them. In 2002, our Fellowship became the 320th Unitarian Universalist congregation to receive official designation from the UUA's Office of Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian and Transgender Concerns. We continue to reach out to and support the BGLT community by our participation in San Luis Obispo's Pride in the Plaza celebration each July, and our commitment to the ongoing struggle for civil rights and equity for all persons, regardless of their affectional preferences, gender identity or sexual orientation. |
